1967 Gye-dong Hospital and Wine The way the old space survives well is that it is more important to remain completed with people than to become a collection of a museum. The appearance of the past remains as a trace, but the appearance of the present is also wonderful. Creating a new space from the past comes with many limitations. However, thanks to that restriction, it has no choice but to become a new space. Is there a human who can defy time and space? - It is said that it was a hospital building in 1967. - After going through a clothing store, it became what it is today. In Gye-dong, low buildings, unique floor patterns, and up and down roads complete the village-like scenery. - In the middle of this land, where the site of a well used in Joseon remains, old buildings are still guarding the site. In 1960, when there were two or three-story brick buildings, did you know that high-rise buildings would be built in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace? We, too, may surely capture the appearance of the city only in our memories. - But there are still some old spaces that I wish I had. It seems that a lot of effort was put into this place to capture the past and unravel the story of the present. The wall could be demolished and a larger space could be used, but the wall was preserved and a terrace was made to the boundary of the lot, leaving the location and traces of the wall as it is. This is the case with the wooden structure of the ceiling and all the materials seen from the exterior. This building, which was a hospital in the past, needed a kitchen to cook and an efficient desk that would not be inconvenient to use in a small place. Reinforcing the old structure and building a new staircase in the place where the stairs used to be are delicate and solid. - This architect's delicate work shows that this space is still usable and wonderful. Beyond that, the food here is very delicious. - Servers that come and go are worth 100 points. In the kitchen, chefs pay close attention to how customers eat and what expressions they make. It's amazing how 4 or 5 people work together in a small kitchen. The balance, texture, and even the original taste of the ingredients were all at the level of art. - Space cannot be scored like a multiple-choice question, but if I had to give a score here, I would give 100 points for their effort. Architects, chefs, servers, and baristas are all doing their best to realize the value of this space, doing delicate work. And the results are good, too. - On a rainy weekend, if you want a nice meal in an old-fashioned space, I would recommend this place. - This is a cafe and wine bistro located on Gye-dong-gil #Ik - Location _ 24 Bukchon-ro 4-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul - Parking _ Use the nearby parking lot - Business hours _ 10-17[Cafe], 18-02[Bistro Wine] - -architechu
