It is the result of various stories such as rapid growth, the rush of city dwellers, changes in the industrial structure and rapid changes in the economic situation. - So now, you can't see a single-story residential complex like an old town in Seoul unless it's a land where there is a legal height limit for buildings like Jongno. - But it still remains in Mullae-dong, Yeongdeungpo. - A land in which the lower floors of 1-2 stories are arranged in a straight grid. It is only now that new spaces have been created and it has become a land visited by many people, but until five years ago, only poor artists and precision metal factories remained. At 6 o'clock, the lights went out and it was a creepy urban organization to walk around. - This land has been a redevelopment area since the year 13, but even that was canceled due to disagreement between various speculators and local residents. - But not in the future. - Since 2018, it has been selected as an urban regeneration district in Seoul and is now preparing to transform into a new urban organization. - In this context, my graduation works include “How should the city of Mullae-dong change?”, “Is the overseas urban regeneration trend that the city of Seoul has received and used uncritically until now?”, “Is this land appropriate? It starts to find architectural answers to the three questions of “what?” - Urban regeneration is a method of acknowledging the value of a declining industrial area like Europe and improving the physical environment in part [Cultural Stockpile Base, Culture Station 284, Namseoul Museum of Art] and improving the residential environment by strengthening the community of local residents. There are two methods [Cheonho-dong Residential Environment Improvement, Touch Farming Village]. - However, this land called Mullae-dong has only an urban organization in the 40s and has changed with the times, with no style at that time. Also, due to the failure of redevelopment, the local community that focuses on this area was also weak. So, in this situation, how can Mullae-dong enter the context of urban regeneration? - Even if you push and bark, everyone has preserved something of the past. It has become a space that respects the identity of this land and embraces a stronger story. We are working hard to become a work that we can empathize with. - What kind of result will the water be?
