Saint Grill
Garosu-gil, Seoul
In front of the burger, Amen - “I want to build a building that responds to the spiritual of man beyond the material.” This is what Mario Bota said, who designed the Kyobo Tower in Gangnam Station, which we are very familiar with. Religious architecture, to the extent that some say, 'The magnificence and sacredness of the space made me believe that there is a God', religious architecture is genetically innate with such a sense of space. At the same time as the 'Edict of Milan' issued by Constantine the Great in 313 AD, Christians who were oppressed by the Roman Empire no longer had to hide in the basement or dark places to worship. Then, what they most needed was 'a space for worship'. From this point, the history of Western art begins, and the history of Western architecture begins to develop at the same time. People who were thinking about a space for such a worship service needed a large indoor space rather than a temple that enshrined ancient gods. In order to build this, various old methods have emerged, and Western architectural history is developing along with church architecture. I, too, had my first overseas trip at the age of 25, and had come to see the true face of this religious architecture through Melbourne, Australia, where many neoclassical styles remain. Looking at the high ceilings, the gorgeous stained glass, and the hallways and skeletons that had to come out to make the high space, I also felt the sacredness of this space. - However, the church buildings of the present age contain such a space, but do they contain the essence of religion? - Are people flocking to the church only for a whole series of actions that are sought out of necessity and have nowhere to turn, so that they can pray to God and refine their inner spirit? I went to mission school when I was in high school. There was a time to pray twice a day, morning and evening, but the pastor in charge of the school never forced it. And maybe the true meaning of religion that I learned from you can be summarized in this one line? want. 'People have to call people.' It was said that people should have influence and spread that influence for good for those who need it, not through propaganda or missions. I remember that it was about the words that gathered people and that wasn't the true face of religion. - In this context, we are in fact not only a sacred, majestic sense of space, which is important in religious architecture. We do it by concentrating on the system that came out through the needs of the people who made that space. What is 'corresponding to the spiritual things of the present age'? - In this era that fully satisfies the basic needs of humans, I would like to explain today's space by entering the simplest and most powerful word, life. - 'Wear, sleep, eat.' - In this age, when most people can live with this to some extent - 'Dress well, sleeps well, eats better.' - I think these words fit better. In response to these needs, numerous spaces have their own slogans, and they are expressing their own goals in the space as a starting point: 'My cooking', 'My space', and 'My look'. This space located behind Garosu-gil in Sinsa-dong is probably one of them. One of them is 'Eat a little bit better'. - From the name, it is Saint Grill, whether it was intended to satisfy the spiritual and essential human needs. It must have been a place I had to go to because I wanted to eat better. Among the myriad of handmade burger shops, stained glass was used to make use of the space pursued, and the atmosphere of the American burger restaurant was saved. As soon as you order, the juicy patties are carefully grilled on the grill. This space is also fun. It was a fun space for me just by imagining the relationship between religious architecture and this space by biting a juicy hamburger under the name of 'Saint Grill'. At the end of that imagination, the thick and juicy patty's peppery scent came to me so attractive. And at the same time as the end of my imagination, I had no choice but to think like this. - “Okay, at this point, in front of the burger, ‘Amen’.” - This is #Saint Grill on Garosu-gil - Only the menu burger set is attached. #Beef Truck Burger ..Highly recommended🤤🍔🥩🥩
