Swiss Grand Hotel Seoul
Seodaemun-gu, Seoul • Hotel
Grand Space: What is the future of luxury hotels? - It is not easy to feel the grandeur in a space. Most of the spaces in Seoul where you can feel this are art galleries and museums that have relatively limited actions and are difficult to stay for a long time. If you look at several examples, 'Seosomun Historic and Cultural Sacred Site, Amorepacific Yongsan Office Building, Songeun Art Space Underground Exhibition Hall, and National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art' fall into this category. The Grand Space is not an easily accessible space. However, if there is a space where you can enjoy it more abundantly or stay for a long time, there is a lobby of a large hotel. - Hotels have a large and high public space in the lobby on average. This is because it follows the tangible rules that the science of architecture has kept in the past. However, it may be difficult to see such a space in Korea in the future. Large luxury hotels that relied on 'foreign travelers' are now sold out. This is because the number of overseas travelers has been cut off due to the corona situation. Also, for those who come for a relatively light business or a short trip to the vicinity, it is also because the rates at luxury hotels are very expensive. As such, 'boutique hotels [a relatively small and reasonably priced hotel, different from business hotels]', which meet the needs of travelers and business people who are relatively short-distance travellers, are in trend in the flow of the times, and luxury hotels are on top of the list. As mentioned, it has come to a point where it is difficult to maintain its magnificence. - Today's space is located at the foot of Hongje-dong Mountain. It is also surrounded by mountains, and there is also Hongjecheon, a good place to walk and enjoy. Naturally, the best view the hotel gives from the room is the 'mountain view'. I remember telling the story of 'Red Bridge [ #Hotel_Room_Price_Decision ]' a long time ago, and explaining why the room rates change at hotels. As such, most of the rooms here are designed to face the mountain. - The service of a luxury hotel starts at the entrance. Traditional luxury hotel service, open the door and pick up your luggage before getting out of the car. You can easily go to the reception and they will kindly help you check in your room. The hotel's policy is to check-in at 15:00, but since you arrived a little early, you will experience a variety of meticulous considerations. 'Can I leave your luggage?', 'I'll ask you to check in as soon as possible.', 'If it's okay, wait for about 15 minutes in the atrium [a type of central space with glass ceilings and relatively high ceilings]. You can experience active consideration tailored to various situations. I go to the atrium space to have a coffee break for about 15 minutes. - The 'Grand Space [extra large space with a height and scale that transcends the physical width perceived by humans]', a space of a traditional hotel, will appear. It is a large space with a cool opening from the 1st basement floor to the 3rd floor above the ground. The ceiling is made of geometrically shaped glass windows [sky light]. Light falls down and the well-decorated stairs, landscaping and nerves looking out the window turn the cafe into a retreat. People are quietly sipping coffee while listening to live violin music. The time in the very large space, well decorated in European and American style, is 15 minutes, enough to be ecstatic to stop. Stairs are facing in different directions and lead to the commercial space on the 2nd and 3rd floors. These are the lounge cafe, membership bar, VIP lounge, Chinese restaurant, Japanese restaurant, etc. [We strongly recommend 'delivery' for meals!] - There are a total of 5 elevators from the 4th floor to the 11th floor of the guest room going up to drop off the luggage. The number of quick trips to a room at any time. And the elevator speed is also fast, unlike that of general commercial and residential buildings, and it is an elevator with colorful decorations. The hallway leading to the guest room on the floor you arrived is neat and luxuriously decorated. [Although you can see the weak soundproofing between the hallway and the rooms, it's not bad considering the age in which it was built and the cost of the stay. The important thing is that the soundproofing between the rooms is good] - The last room we arrived in has a slightly larger area than the relatively recently built rooms. - This is the high-end hotel's entry sequence [a sequence of scenes experienced as a person walking through space]. The 'Grand Space' is responsible for the central experience in the hotel. There are device elements that give you a sense of excitement and liberation before entering, but it is also a space that shows the greatness of the brand. - Today's space is a space where you can easily experience the stories listed in chronological order above. And it is also a space that may disappear soon. We would like to introduce you to the 'Grand Space', which may be difficult to experience in the future, here. - This is Hongje Clinic #Swiss Grand Hotel Seoul. - Location _ 201-1 Hongeun-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul - Room rate _ Approx. 150,000 to 200,000 won [Please note that each reservation site is different] - Breakfast _ 35,000 won per person [Please pay attention to the word 'delivery'] - Facilities _ Swimming pool, gym, bar, cafe, Japanese restaurant, Chinese restaurant, V design _ Seoul Architecture Office, WBTL [Co-design]
