Mimesis Art Museum

At the Paju Publishing Complex, there is 'Mimesis Art Museum', a work of Portuguese architect 'Alvaro Siza'.
Misis is a Korean 'What's your favorite building?' It is one of the few buildings that you can confidently say. As it is a building that cannot be taken lightly, we want to go a little deeper.

'Mimesis' is a name given in the sense that it mimics the figure of a cat. As soon as people see this art museum, they are attracted by the beautiful lines.

Looking at his early works, 'Lessa da Palmyida Pool' and 'Boa Nova Tea House', which were released around the time he graduated from college, what he is trying to say is clearly visible.
If you look at the characteristics of the work at this time, the line to make the nature stand out the most is a 'straight line'. With nature at the end, architecture acts as a guide.
After all, it is 'nature'. The building to be built is already spoken of by the land. I think so too.

However, as everyone knows, the current Alvarosiza is famous for its 'curves'. He makes dozens of sketches to draw a beautiful line, then creates a model with a maximum size of 1/50 or more, and repeats sketching again after seeing the space directly.
The 'curve' I think is the closest to nature. He dares to think that he paints 'nature' that can be moved by everyone. This curve is different from the final line drawn by Tadao Ando, such as the 'sphere'.
The lines he draws are an effort to blend in with the surroundings, not splendor, with a clear understanding of the place and site where the architecture will be built. Accordingly, I have strong doubts about the free space that exists without context.
If you look at his space, it is endless and continuous. In order to focus on the lines, pure materials such as concrete with a minimal sense of material are mainly used, and only light and shadows that can come from nature are used.

In fact, this article is an answer to the question of whether someone just dislikes curves. I also want to draw a line close to nature.
Another work of Alvaro Siza and the recently opened Saya Arboretum in Gunwi are also highly anticipated.
