city fantasy
-
Wongaksa Temple was built in 1983. There were no apartments at the time, so I think the view from the hill in Changsin-dong was beautiful. Afterwards, an apartment complex was built in the front, and an apartment wall was created in front of the hill behind, and Wongaksa was isolated. Wongaksa was relocated in 2003, and the remaining land was acquired by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
-
A space that was originally a temple. Now, it is opening up as a cultural space for local residents by accepting the historical and cultural context of the region. It has become a cultural space that remembers the past by leaving the symbolic and fundamental structure of the temple in the past and inserting a glass box inside.
-
Its appearance is fantastic. The meeting of modernity and tradition always gives a fresh shock to the strange sentiment. As if the city scenes were synthesized, the appearance of the new space stacked up to the steep hill is also diverse. The wooden structure on the concrete base, the glass box inside, the translucent glass on the top, and the wood take shape one after another. Although it is one building, it evokes an urban illusion of three buildings connected.
-
Clarify existence in an isolated space. It is a powerful one made by the old and the gods.
-
Inside the library building, a space made of stacked bookshelves creates tiered seating and a central space. The top of the stacked boxes is filled with colored acrylic plates, subverting the sentiments between passages and evoking modern splendor. The exhibition starts here. An exhibition dealing with the myth of Mago is currently in progress. Follow the picture and go to the stairs. The first side of the stairwell is a white space with tiles piled up. Somewhere in the back of the design with a narrative composition, the roof of the old Wongaksa Temple can be seen as it is. Under the sky, the afterimage of Wongaksa Temple and the apartment intersect to create an interesting picture. If you go up again, you will find a white translucent glass staircase. It rises vertically and reveals the character of the space as a movement line. fun. You can read the stairway where the scenes change and the hint that each space is given an independent character.
-
At the end of the exhibition room, like the wooden building seen from the hill in Changsin-dong, communication between the inside and the outside disappears. If the story of transparent, translucent, and opaque is continued from below, it is a clear space filled with scenes of space suitable for it. To experience multiple scenes in one space. At the same time, the scene has an environment suitable for its purpose.
-
Now, the digression is not an abandoned space. It is being re-chosen as a space for citizens, embracing the past, present, and urban fantasy.
