The Hyundai Card Design Library has carefully selected and owns over 17,000 books on design, architecture, and contemporary art since the Bauhaus, the birthplace of the modern design spirit. You can find the professionalism and objectivity of the design library in the book collections selected by global book curators, including rare books that have been printed in small quantities or out of print, and book categories specialized in design.

Architecturally, it is a renovation of the Seomi Gallery designed by architect Yoo Tae-yong. This building is characterized by a bold arrangement of the traditional context of Bukchon and modern architectural styles by raising the Sarangchae on the third floor of the building, juxtaposing black stone walls and concrete panels.

It is said that he tried to keep the principles of light, atmosphere, space, and logical composition advocated by modern architects while renovating this place as a design library. The yard and the sky were placed simply horizontally and vertically, considering the movement of people between them. Front glass windows are placed on three sides surrounding the courtyard to contrast the interior with bright light, the texture of wood, and materials with strong physical properties such as iron and stainless steel. In addition, for the preservation of books that are vulnerable to light, the architect precisely measures the amount of sunlight in the four seasons and arranges the bookshelves according to the angle of light calculated in advance.
