Living history book, holy water

It is said that the industrial complex in Seongsu, which occurred naturally in 1960, grew when the Monami factory in Mapo was moved in 1963. Korea, a republic of apartments, has achieved atypical residential development, and Seongsu has a unique urban structure in which industrial and residential complexes are mixed. There were more than 400 handmade shoe studios in the area, and it was also a place full of factories related to automobiles and printing. It seems to be a place that preserves fragments of Korean history, similar to an urban organization where housing, industry and commerce are mixed.

It is often said that naturally occurring areas are livable. In particular, since the city of 'Busan' is not a planned city, it is a special case of housing, commercial and industrial spaces coexisting. It can be said that the process of city formation in history is similar to that of the Middle Ages. In the past, the Romans formed a fortified city that relied on natural terrain to escape Ottoman invasions. Looking back at the modern and contemporary history of Korea, the city of Busan, which has grown rapidly due to refugees, is similar. Characteristically, 'Gamcheon', 'Youngdo', and 'Nampo' are more suitable for the context of formation. These urban organizations can easily perform activities essential for survival in the vicinity of residential spaces. The same was the case with the urban organization of Geumjeong-gu, Busan, where I lived as a child, including hardware stores, butchers, hairdressers, key stores, laundry rooms, shoe stores, post offices, marts, and even transportation. As such, a series of actions taking place on the streets of the city also bring special scenes and benefits. This is because trading with street vendors is a good place for education to develop the social skills of a child who came out hand in hand, and a child of a regular customer who knows well is placed in the safety net of live CCTVs on the street.

It's hard to find something like that in Seoul. If they are similar, then this land called 'Seongsu' is like that. It is true that the cities of Mapo, Yongsan, and Seongdong are at risk as they are lands that are about to be redeveloped. This is because, if space is considered simply by commercial logic, the majority of city dwellers can experience poverty in terms of experience.
-
A city that has lost its moist experience is no different than a desert in a wasteland.
-
What we need to protect is the spatial composition of the city. A city where residential, industrial and commercial are mixed. Although they appear without a plan, both those who visit and those who live are now living their lives in their own way within the structure of the city.
-
With or without a plan, cities don't always work as planned. It is an obvious fact.
-
Also, I focus on diversity when talking about the city experience. It is a scientific fact that everyone knows that imbalances in ecosystems lead to extinction. As space is an amazing organism that plays through the times, the imbalance of species leads to the extinction of space experience. Seongsu-dong is in a precarious situation in this era of space where there is not enough space to climb up for higher values and experiences, but gladly, the people of this land are recapturing modern stories.
-
Now, not only residential, commercial and industrial spaces but also cultural spaces are coming in one after another. The structural characteristics of Seongsu-dong from the past are being further strengthened. Maybe the place called Seongsu is close to a history book that records fragments of Korea's development in detail? and introduce the space.
-
Many stories come together to create another story. It seems to be talking about the city.
