[Arttainment Hotel, Paradise City that delights all five senses]
⠀
Located in Yeongjongdo, Incheon.
⠀
15 minutes on foot from Incheon International Airport. Paradise City, located in Yeongjongdo, Incheon, is a place that attracts attention just for the number of works the hotel has.
⠀
Paradise City is the most expensive artist of the present generation, from Yayoi Kusama's 'Yellow Pumpkin' to British contemporary artist Damien Hirst's 'Golden Legend', the US artist Jeff Koons' 'Gaging Ball-Farnes Hercules', one of the most expensive artists in existence. It boasts a collection that is no different from the exhibition hall, such as 'Together' by Kaus, a designer and also a designer.
⠀
It is the result of paying attention enough to commission world-famous artists to produce works in Paradise City to fit the hotel concept of 'Global Arttainment'. Alessandro Mendini, an Italian designer and architect, was also commissioned by Paradise City to create the work. It is the largest of his work Proust chair series, 'Paradise Proust'. It was designed in a colorful way, inspired by the Korean Jogakbo. All of the Jogakbo patterns that can be seen on the exterior and interior walls of the building were all designed by Mendini. Paradise City designed the hotel itself as a single piece of art by embracing the entire resort like a piece of paper.
⠀
In the fountain in front of the main gate, where the eyes of visitors come first, the giant crown-shaped work 'Glory' by Choi Jeong-hwa, a representative of Korean pop art, is installed. It is a work containing a message of hospitality to welcome all visitors. In addition, famous works such as Kim Chang-yeol's painting 'Waterdrop', Park Seo-bo's 'Mysticism Series', and Kim Ho-deuk's ink painting 'Valley' are displayed throughout the hotel. In particular, works by Korean artists are hung like galleries in all hallways from the 5th to 11th floors, where the guest rooms start. When the elevator door opens on each floor, it feels like you are facing a new exhibition hall.
⠀
Paradise City, which aims to be a 'art-loving hotel', also has a separate art museum. 'Paradise Art Space' is an art exhibition space and a space emerging as a new mecca of Asian art. When you enter the permanent exhibition room of this space, you will be overwhelmed by the aura from the works of Jeff Koons and Damien Hirst. In particular, the towering Jeff Koons' 'Farnese Hercules' catches the eye with a gauging ball series that installs gauging balls on classic stone statues and famous paintings.
