Old Ferry Donut
Yongsan-gu, Seoul • Cafe
As I travel to a relatively diverse range of spaces, I am in a position to bring up the words, “There is a place like this,” in conversations with people around me. In most cases, the response is “Oh yeah? Did you not know here?” Yes.
The overall image of the brand was consistent with the lively atmosphere commonly used in the market these days, but the exterior with architectural beauty, the interior with oriental elements wittily added, and the experience narrative connected with iron furniture were very serious and weighty. Especially when I felt the connection between 'Old Ferry' and the wooden interior, I hit my knees. It was the first time I had the thought of wanting to spend a long time at a donut shop.
If you have reached this point, I would recommend that you take your time and look up and savor the wit contained in the oriental painting, which contains the adventures of the donuts painted next to it and the atmosphere created by the light coming through the high ceiling meeting the wood. It is not new to express something that originated in the West with an oriental feel, but it was a space where the expression 'a well-made cliché is no longer a cliché' came to mind. This is a passage that gives a glimpse of the star of the studio Kim Geo-sil (@studiogimgeosil) who designed this space.
I believe that the place that serves food is supposed to speak for itself in the end, but from Doalmot's point of view, Old Perry Donuts' reputation had no choice but to feel that there was a good reason for it. Even when I tried another famous donut, I couldn't feel it, but for some reason, it seems to have opened the door to a dangerous world.
