"Take the scenery as a stage"
-
There are two ways to appreciate the natural scenery in Korean traditional architecture. These are 'Chagyeong', in which 'Scenery Suyeong(景)' is written for 'Rental car(借)', and 'Janggyeong', which uses 'Scenery Scene(景)' for 'Madangjang(場)'. The rental car scenery accepts nature as it is and enjoys it through the window to a part with a good view. Since the relationship with the nature in the yard is deep, the protagonist can enter the work while admiring the scenery at home and become one with the scenery. However, the main character cannot intervene in the 'Janggyeong', which is interpreted as the scenery of the yard. Since it is the scenery of the yard, of course, you would think that the audience can enter the scenery in the same way as the car scenery, but here the yard is a field and a stage. Considering that various events were held in the yard, the audience should only appreciate the stage from the audience. Thus, while Cha-gyeong brings the scenery in the yard to the inside, Jang-gyeong uses the nature, mountains, sea and sky behind the yard where people cannot intervene to appreciate the scenery.

The space to be introduced this time is 'Greetbee', which utilizes the Janggyeong well. The shape of the building is thick and heavy, and the height of the building breaks the horizon. The plane where two inefficient triangular masses meet to create a rhombus creates unexpected movement and space inside. The movement line along the triangular line and a part of it change to an external space, and at the end of the space extending from the vertex, the sea suddenly unfolds, allowing us to see the climax of the performance.

You can enjoy the view of the blue sea to your heart's content while choosing a menu at the counter on the 1st floor, but the experience is not as good as the 2nd floor. The light coming in may be too strong than the inside of the second floor, or it may be because there are no seats to sit on. But when I thought about it, I can say that the biggest reason was that the sea was regarded as a work of art and the interior was designed. The main space on the second floor is like a concert hall. The grandstand designed to look at the sea as a stage, and the hole in the wall where the speaker seems to be installed, reminds me of a movie theater or a performance hall. These existing experiences are overlapped, and people who look at the sea sit in the bleachers and enjoy the sea as if they were watching a movie or a play.

In addition to the technique of appreciating the scenery using the scenery as a stage, the movement towards the main space is deliberately stretched out and part of the gaze is blocked. So it looks more special and the experience is richer, so it looks good even though it's the same sea.

Although there is a difference between the sub-view and the long-view landscape in appreciating the scenery, it is the same in borrowing the scenery of nature. Borrowing means taking, using and returning something that belongs to someone else, so it is also a word that reflects the values of our ancestors who took nature as an object of reverence and accepted it as it is without damaging it. Here too, 'Greeby' was able to become a space that gives a #good_experience_because the interior was designed while accepting the sea as it is, considering the sea not to be conquered, but to be borrowed and used.
