"absurd space"
-
There is a word 'absurd'. It can be interpreted as a trace engraved on the site. The word 'muni' is a combination of 'muni', which is a 'pattern' that leaves a mark on the 'site', which means a place to build a house or a base for things to happen. That's why we say 'absurd' with such a baseless, baseless statement. The word 'absurd' can also be used in architecture. A building that is not awkward at all even if it is pulled out like weeds and transplanted to another place is possible because its relationship with the ground is weak in the first place, and therefore such a building can be evaluated as an absurd architecture.
-
Architecture begins with site analysis. Buildings are built on land, so the process of understanding and interpreting the land is really important. From physical analysis such as light, scent, wind, and noise, the context, atmosphere, history, and numerous interests surrounding the land are investigated. In the process, a core idea that encompasses the entire building is derived, and it is expressed as a form and an internal space, creating a space that gives a good experience. For this reason, unlike weeds, these structures are awkward when transplanted to another location and quickly wither as they fail to adapt to the environment. This is because the relationship with the earth is strong like a magnet, otherwise they cannot exert their power and push each other away.
-
This is also the case with the building we are going to introduce. An absurd space that has no meaning otherwise is 'Ground Seesaw Seochon'. The shape of the building is similar to that of the surrounding buildings, and it is not easily conspicuous. However, the moment you see the special courtyard prepared in a similar context, you cannot easily miss this place. The courtyard, which has a hollow in the middle like a well, creates a shelter in the city center with dense buildings. Trees are planted inside and water flows, so it's fun to go up and down from the 1st floor to the 4th floor and look at the nature there from a different angle.
-
Baeksongteo is located right next to the place where the building is seated. Until the tree died in 1991, it was designated as a natural monument because it was the largest and most beautiful of all white pines in Korea. Unfortunately, only the torso remains now, and it only recalls the past 200 years. Just as a white pine tree that appears after passing through a narrow alleyway has become a shelter for the villagers, the newly established Ground Seesaw Seochon is trying to take over that role. So, if this building is transplanted to another place, it will wither without any power. The idea of bringing the bagpipes into the building and expanding the open space vertically is useless.
