This building was built on October 24, 1928 by a man named 'Henry Edouard Chavigny de Lachevrotiere'. At first, there were only European-style buildings visible only from the front. And it wasn't a hotel like it is now, but a grocery store. It is at the crossing of 'Misty Dong Khoi Hotel' posted in Ho Chi Minh Story Part 1. The hotel was built relatively long ago and retains its colonial style. However, in 1997, the use was changed to a hotel and the guest rooms were extended. After that, in 2008, another extension was made and it has the present shape. The style of the lower floors is the style of the complete colonial period. However, the extended part has a height and appearance that cannot be seen in the style. There are traces of trying to make it visually similar as much as possible.

Although this hotel was not built as an original hotel, it has a fairly decent lobby area. There are high ceilings, gorgeous marble finishes, and comfortable seating areas. Since this was not the original hotel, it can be judged that there is no drop-off zone, but even a relatively recently built 5-star hotel of the same rating, there are few places where the drop-off zone is well prepared. Looking around the area, I could see that a few hotels were well prepared for it. As I said in the first part, since this is 'District 1' where people with high economic scale live, 5-star hotels are concentrated. Today's space, one of them, was my 4th day's dormitory.

I only decided where to stay for the first 3 days, and for the rest, I purposely did not book an accommodation in advance. Considering the hot weather I experienced and the inconvenience of having to take GRAP [Southeast Asia Kakao Taxi] to move around with my luggage, I was looking for a hotel within walking distance as much as possible. One thing that caught my eye was the hotel's swimming pool. I chose this place because I fell in love with that one photo, where the building surrounded it in 4 directions and the exotic atmosphere was overwhelming with the plants running around it. Moreover, the style seen from the outside of the building seemed to have a story. Above all, the fact that it was right in front of the dormitory I was staying at was a big advantage.

It is a traditional service. The room on the 15th floor. You can see the hotel across from the room window. However, when I got closer and looked to the left, I could see the SAIGON River. midday on a hot summer day. The desire to swim rises. Hurry up, grab your swimsuit and go down to the pool. Nowadays, hotel swimming pools are raised on the upper floors of buildings as much as possible in downtown areas so that swimming in other buildings is not seen. It would have been difficult to expand and raise it. A swimming pool that utilizes the strengths of the space pattern for good reasons. Direct access is available from the first floor. The large towels on the sunbeds and the swimming pool where there was no one were so excited. The swimming pool has a small bar. However, I had to leave soon, so I couldn't enjoy drinking, but just enjoying the pool in the hot weather was very enjoyable.

Here, you can enjoy the old-fashioned style, and at the same time, there is a cafe on the roof of the extension. This cafe overlooks the river. The strong wind blowing from the upper floors is due to the hot weather, so it feels rather cool here. Another attraction of this hotel is the rooftop cafe where you can enjoy coffee and cocktails regardless of day or night. It is a great advantage to have a nice space where you can enjoy this city, which is difficult to get around even at night due to the hot weather, only by taking an elevator from your hotel room.

This space does not contain the typical characteristics of a summer country, but you can enjoy the style that France looked into during the colonial period. There you can comfortably enjoy modern services and facilities. Also, the cost of a nice swimming pool and breakfast is included in the cost of your stay, so it's perfect.
