Strolling through Bukchon, an elegantly designed hanok caught my eye, which turned out to be a Sulwhasoo store. Following the road next to it led me to a wonderful building in the style of the 60s and 70s where the Osulloc Tea House was located. The excitement was palpable upon discovering such a fabulous building off the main road.
On the first floor of this three-story building, there's a tea atelier selling tea products, while the second floor houses a tea lounge where you can enjoy a variety of desserts with your tea, and the third floor offers a bar called Bar Seolrok and a tea room where tea classes are held. Both the second and third floors have terraces with seating that offer beautiful views of Bukchon's hanok landscape.
The best part was the tea atelier on the first floor! Recently being deeply immersed in tea, I stopped by with a light heart thinking about buying some green tea, and was pleasantly surprised to find a variety of teas being blended and sold in small quantities. It felt like the first time encountering such a tea blending shop in Korea! From freshly roasted hojicha to Jeju Odekolon Mint, which is a blend of oolong mint and green tea, and Camellia Flower Garden, which blends camellia flowers and green tea, a variety of teas are available for purchase according to personal taste.
On the second floor, one can experience various desserts and teas. I ordered Sejak green tea and a rice cake dessert named Bukchon's Colorful, which is Osulloc's signature green tea made from young tea leaves, and the colorful dessert allows for four types of rice cakes to be dipped into four different dipping sauces. Personally, the green tea spread and red pepper jam were memorable. The red pepper jam had a unique taste akin to eating rice cakes in spicy sauce!
Though I couldn't fully experience the third floor due to time constraints, reviews from those who have suggest it's a must-visit space for tea cocktails. The space is said to be incredibly stylish, and the quality of the beverages and the stories contained within each are impressive. Definitely planning to visit soon!
