Mont Saint Michel is a monastery dedicated to the Archangel Michael, meaning 'Saint Michael's Mountain'. It is said that the Archangel Michael appeared three times in the dream of Bishop Aubert, who ruled the Mont Saint-Michel area a long time ago, and ordered that a sanctuary be built on this island.
