Who knew a railway station could be beautiful? Central Antwerp Station (also known as ‘de Middenstatie’) is the main central station in Antwerp, Belgium. It is also now a main landmark in Antwerp, which is evident in its beautiful architectural exterior, vast interior dome, metal platform roof and steel platform hall. Between 2000-2009, the station went through an extensive restoration and the expansion now includes a shopping center and two lower level platforms to accommodate high speed trains. Stepping foot in this railway station reminded me a little of Grand Central but also gave me a bit of Harry Potter vibes. Nonetheless, Central Antwerp Station is unique in its own way and definitely a must see if you’re in Antwerp!
