바렌나 에스프레소 바
Jamsil / Songnidan-gil, Seoul • Cafe
A small piece of Italy in Seokchon named after an Italian town, Bar Varenn. From its opening, it has been sought after for its exotic and beautiful exterior. Having business in Seokchon after a long time, I paid a visit incidentally. With the new season, the terrace was beautifully decorated with flowers. Inside the Bar Varenn, the prices differ between the bar and tables. I only came for a quick visit, so I choose the bar. The manually operated espresso machine, reminiscent of something artisanal, seemed incredibly stylish. They had about ten different espresso-based drinks. I ordered a coffee granita, which changes flavors regularly; on the day of my visit, it was coffee-flavored. The granita is like a high-quality, coffee slushie mixed with brown sugar – sweet, cool, and perfectly paired with cream. A familiar taste, but better than expected! Over the past year, many espresso bars have emerged. It seems that in time, the memorable ones will stay, and others may disappear. With its unique European-inspired terrace and excellent menu, Bar Varenn might hold its ground for much longer than others.
