Duque da Rua
Lisbon, Portugal • Bar
A song sung toward the sea, a song that expresses the joys and sorrows of life. There are several sentences to describe fado. I was worried that there might be only dark or depressing music because it is a song about history and life, but from such sad melodies to happy songs that we can all enjoy together. For three hours, everyone listened to music and sang together.
There are so many places that perform fado performances in Lisbon, so it is difficult to compare with other places, but the atmosphere I visited was attractive in itself to spend time with strangers in a small, cramped shop. Instead of a meal menu, there are mainly tapas menus to satisfy your hunger. Drinking something you like, such as beer or wine, and listening to music together is enough.
With the stranger in the seat next to you, you become a relationship where you can laugh and sing together even if you don't know each other and even have a drink together. The charm of Fado, including all these, is a place that brings beautiful memories.
