Habit of inadvertently looking up
As you walk down the street, you often feel tired of the constantly repeating scenery. At times like this, I take out my camera and look at my daily life through a lens, or look up and look at the sky.

Here, Seochon Ground Seesaw is also known as 'Brickwell'.
There were only two things the building owner initially asked the architect for. “Corresponding to brick and white pine site traces.”
Brickwell is located less than 50 meters from the wall at the westernmost end of Gyeongbokgung Palace. It is presumed that the area around 35 Tongui-dong was the site of Changui Palace. As time passed, alleys were formed in the process of being divided into about 30 parcels, and once inside, a residential area where you could completely hide from the hustle and bustle of the city where cars pass quickly was formed.
The site of the white pine tree was designated as a natural monument because it was the largest and most beautiful white pine tree in Korea until the tree died in 1991. In the place where Brickwell is located, a tree called a white pine tree made a place for a long time and lived history. Brickwell, who tried to establish a place following the historicity and place, created a courtyard by connecting the Baeksong sites to create a garden that naturally runs from the alley in the center of the building.

Still, the most beautiful place here was the courtyard, which was naturally connected to the alley. The garden to maintain the white pine site is composed of trees and plants that are rare in Seoul, such as forsythia, azalea, and azalea, which are rare in downtown Seoul.

Brickwell is nicknamed the stone well. It is probably because of the design emphasizing the courtyard by using specially designed bricks around it.
But I would like to call it a light well.
Being empty, this place is filled with more than that by physically emptying the space.
The symbolism of this place, from the site of the Changui Palace to the alley that serves as a resting place in a bustling city, the history and the heart of the white pine tree all fill this place. The light falling from above in the sky illuminates the heart to shine and respect the precious things contained in this courtyard.
As I said before, I have a habit of looking up at the sky inadvertently. When I visited Brickwell and unintentionally looked up at the sky, everything touched by the pouring and converging light was so beautiful. The gathered lights were enough to illuminate the place, and it was illuminating too brightly the desire to be proud of this building. It was “Brickwell, a well that holds light” that made me appreciate the first time I looked up casually.
