THICK SANDO & JAPANESE FUSION CAFΓ‰ FARE! πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅πŸ₯ͺ

Upper Thomson Road is a well-known spot for both cafΓ© hoppers and supper gangs, with popular hotspots like Salted Caramel and Columbus. Just a few stores down where Habitat Coffee previously was, hello arigato is the latest to open their doors, serving up some Japanese fusion fare that’s the perfect addition to the neighbourhood.

The place interior reminds us of the dimly-lit cafΓ©s in the streets of Bangkok, with their cosy couches and rustic homely vibes. They are still in their soft opening phase, so the menu is still in the works. In the meantime, indulge in some Japanese comfort fare like the 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨, which are freshly prepared upon ordering! πŸ₯ͺ

We got the Katsu Sando which is a Japanese milk bread sandwich with deep-fried breaded pork katsu and grilled pineapple. The thickness of the sando is definitely a wow factor, we almost unhinge our jaw trying to take a bite into it. 😲 Although the first look is impressive, we felt that the katsu was too tough and dry, which is a bit disappointing. The tonkotsu sauce helped and the pineapple slices were well grilled and caramelised. 🍍 The Gyu and Otah Sando certainly look good though, so it might be better getting those instead when you’re there. We got the Musubi Shi as well, which are fried slices of spam on rice and pressed together with nori. It comes in 2 different flavours - teriyaki glaze and homemade mala. The seasoning were on point, with the mala being a tad spicy. The rice is a little plain and would be better if it has more of the sushi vinegar taste to complement the spam. 🍚

There are also other dishes like their donburi and Japanese-inspired pasta dishes, which looked extremely appetising but we were too full. Definitely recommend anyone who comes to give the other dishes a try!
