Sightglass Coffee
California, United States • Cafe
One of the cafes most beloved by locals in San Francisco!
The roasting machines have glass windows called sight glasses so that you can see the coffee being roasted. Sightglass Coffee aims to show the coffee consumption process as transparently as the roasting process through this small window. Starting from a small warehouse in 2009, it has now become a very large cafe.
The Sightglass on 7th Street is exactly where that first warehouse was, making it an unmatched place for your first visit. The first floor has a large roasting machine and coffee bar, and the second floor is composed of tables, offices, and educational spaces. The enormous windows on the ceiling allow natural light to flood down, giving a strong sense of space and size. The bar seats on the second floor, which overlook the first floor, might just be the perfect spot for solo travelers.
As for my order, it was a latte. The taste of the coffee was unsurprisingly good. I was curious about other menus and desserts, but with so much to eat and drink, I decided to be satisfied with just an oat latte... Like Four Barrel, the baristas at Sightglass are incredibly enthusiastic. This gives you the belief that the coffee couldn't taste bad when the people making it seem to really enjoy their work.
