A special encounter with crafts that express the value of tradition found in an open storage and the modern reinterpretation of tradition 《Folklore×Craft: Casually Half-Half》
The National Folk Museum of Korea in Paju presents 'Casually Half-Half', the first exhibition in the open storage for the 'opening and utilization of collections', connecting tradition and the modern era with 13 craft artists.
Traditional soban (small tables) and bandaji (storage chests) that have been part of life, embodying the 'usage' in daily life while also aiming to capture the artisan's delicate craftsmanship and upright heart.
This exhibition is a meaningful place where long-standing traditions in the storage and modern works come together, in the open storage filled with about 200 traditional soban and bandaji, surpassing the meaning of 'succession' to connect the origin of tradition, offering a chance to see 49 pieces reflecting each artist's unique modern interpretation of tradition.
