A newly opened New York-style taco bar in Hannam-dong has already garnered a long waiting line even before opening hours. Unlike typical tacos that mince ingredients, these tacos preserve the original texture and feel of the ingredients, following a New York style. It seems taco places like this are becoming increasingly popular, following the footsteps of fresh pasta. The main taco menu consists of pork, chicken, beef, and fish tacos. Each taco was ordered along with an additional dish called 'corn rib'.
✔️Pork Taco: Corn tortilla, crisply grilled pork belly, spicy syrup, smoked cucumber pickle, and peanut combination. The tender meat and the crispy skin texture add fun, with peanuts enhancing the flavor.
✔️Chicken Taco: Charcoal tortilla, roasted chicken, hot butter sauce, coleslaw combination. The chicken taco, beautifully assembled with black tortilla, red chicken, and white sauce on top, offers a predictable but delicious sweet and spicy taste.
✔️Beef Taco: Green tortilla, beef cheek braising, fried shallots, mini cos, piparra pepper combination. The beef taco, covered in mini cos resembling lettuce, was somewhat disappointing as the seasoning was too strong, overshadowing other flavors.
✔️Fish Taco: Black olive tortilla, brined cod frying, herb, celery pickle, chipotle sauce combination. Among the tacos, the fish taco was the most satisfactory. The fried cod was flavorful, and the subtle hint of lime along with the accompanying herbs and pickle was delightful.
🌽Corn Rib: Fried corn slathered in spicy sauce, eaten by holding it in the middle and stripping off the corn kernels, like a rib. Surprisingly spicy, but pairs excellently with the provided sour cream. A snack likely to be remembered with every beer.
Overall, the taste wasn't bad, but the presence of tortilla in the tacos seemed too minimal, feeling more like various dishes wrapped in a pancake? If you're a fan of traditional tacos, you might be disappointed, but if you're just there to enjoy the food, it might be alright.
