Egami Etsu's solo exhibition, 《Rainbow》, held at Tang Contemporary Art
⠀
Born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1994, Egami Etsu spent her childhood in China and Japan, becoming fascinated with the inherent limitations and gaps in communication, drawing inspiration to create her art.
⠀
Currently an active global artist, she shows the internationalism and promise of Japan's post-war third-generation contemporary artists, having been selected as Forbes's '2021 Asia U30 Leader'.
⠀
The artist states that communication is not meant for individuals to become closer, but rather to measure the distance between them, with her recent paintings featuring the faces of infants.
⠀
The most striking feature of Egami Etsu's work is the 'parallel lines'; the translucent colors feel more like something closer to light than oil paint.
₩
This exhibition features 21 paintings that layer colorful parallel lines to create faces, resembling rainbows.
