Library of Seogwipo miracle
Seogwipo-si, Jeju • Culture

Seogwipo Miracle Library, built on the same day as its Jeju City counterpart, exemplifies one of the Miracle Libraries established following a popular segment on the 2003 MBC program, exclamation mark 'Let's Read Books'. Designed by architect Jeong Gi-yong, both locations opened on Children's Day and cater to families and children. The building features a unique façade blending diagonal lines, stairs, and cylinders and is accessible via stairs due to its hilltop location. Visitors can enter through a pine forest from the park side, enveloping the reading rooms arranged around a courtyard with a central pine tree—a carryover from the land's original pine grove. The library’s design ensures that nature is visible both inside and out, with high ceilings in the reading rooms enhancing the sense of openness. The space includes a multipurpose room, facilities for young children and infants, an audio-visual room, all interconnected, allowing for a full circle tour of the library’s varied spaces.
