Paper & I
Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam • Cafe
Before going into the design of the shop, I would like to briefly introduce Paper & I so that everyone has more information. Paper & I is located in the cultural complex space of Nam Thi House @namthihouse, which includes the ground floor and the second floor. While the ground floor is an open space for those who like to enjoy the breeze or watch the flow of cars, the second floor is a space surrounded by brick walls interspersed with white tones from the high ceiling, creating a comfortable and equally cozy feeling for those sitting inside. The shop also has a balcony with a quite green view overlooking Nam Ky Khoi Nghia street front and the green garden across the street belonging to the Independence Palace. I especially like the area next to the window on the second floor of Paper & I, it looks very poetic. At this time, I personally think Paper & I is considered a cultural rendezvous point in Saigon, offering an additional option for those who need a space to organize events, exhibitions, including a library and playground for children - while also meeting the need for culinary knowledge to maximize the relaxation experience for guests whether they come to read books, visit, relax, or enjoy culture. - Purple Yam Affogato & Pumpkin Mylk & Sapodilla Coffee Roulade - These are the items I tried at Paper & I. 1. Purple Yam Affogato - This is one of the menu's signature drinks at Paper & I, an interesting combination of purple yam and coffee. I found this quite unique at first sip, probably because I rarely see purple yam paired with coffee, but the more you drink, the more comfortable it feels as you can taste the flavor and aroma of coffee, with the smooth yam adding a gentle sweetness. For those who like to try unique items, you might want to give it a shot. 2. Pumpkin Mylk - The name of this drink might give you a hint about its components, but let me explain a bit about the word 'Mylk' in its name, which refers to milk from plants, combined with pumpkin that Paper & I cooks by hand every day. As someone who frequently drinks coffee, I personally find this drink a bit creamy, but not too difficult to drink, on the contrary, the pumpkin flavor is very pronounced, and the sweetness is also very well blended by Paper & I. It's one of the beverages you should try if you're not a big fan of coffee. 3. Sapodilla Coffee Roulade - This dessert is only available in September with the flavor of sapodilla combined with coffee. The flavors of both sapodilla and coffee are very distinct, with the filling of the cake being sapodilla meat accompanied by a layer of smooth cream that's slightly fatty and lightly sweet, those who love desserts should definitely order this to try.
