Fairmont Ambassador Seoul, situated in the vibrant city of Seoul's financial and business hub, Yeouido, is the international hotel brand's first venture in South Korea. It embodies 'modern luxury' in the heart of Seoul, beautifully blending the city's natural landscapes such as Yeouido Park and Han River Park with contemporary buildings. However, despite its esteemed 5-star reputation, many aspects were disappointingly lacking. Issues ranged from over 40-minute waits just to enter the parking lot on a weekday, a crowded lobby with more than 20 people waiting to check in at the designated 3 PM time, insufficiently staffed receptions leading to frequent mistakes due to rushed interactions, to dining experiences during afternoon tea and happy hour that felt overcrowded and rushed, reminiscent of receiving rations in a mess hall. Especially for cola, which had to be requested individually from staff. Other issues included the swimming pool, lobby communication errors, and erroneous charges.
