AYU SPACE
Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi • Cafe
AYU Space is a cultural complex located in Namyangju. It's a space that became notable for architecture designed by Architect Cho Byoung-soo, featuring an outdoor terrace that offers views of the Bukhangang River. This place provides specialty coffee, brunch, bakery, and even a gallery situated in a traditional Korean house. During the soft opening, only the 'Wind Pavilion' is available, and only coffee and beverages can be ordered. The interior is circular, following curves, with a variety of tables. Despite it being the first day of the soft opening, we were meticulously taken care of and guided, which is greatly appreciated. The prices may feel a bit high, but a 50% discount is available during the soft opening. The effort and will of the members who wish to create a place not just called a cultural complex can be seen here.
- Single origin beans, five to six types, can be chosen from.
- I tried a brewing coffee with Colombian Potosi Dragon's Natural beans; it left a lasting taste of floral acidity and hints of raspberry in my mouth.
- AYU Space's music colors the space in the Lo-fi genre, which feels slightly too trend-focused. It might be beneficial to select calmer, more static classical piano or other instrumental music considering the space and its clientele. The atmosphere maintained, akin to that of a five-star hotel, could elevate with such musical adjustments.
