Yulgok-ro Palace Wall Trail
Jongno-gu, Seoul • Park
The fact that Jongmyo Shrine and Changgyeonggung Palace were originally connected by walls and forests is interesting. In July, after more than 10 years of construction, Yulgok-ro was restored with a forest over a space as wide as a soccer field above it. A new green space where you can take a forest walk along the palace walls has been created. Yulgok-ro Palace Wall Road is connected to Seosun-ra Road. The view from above the Yulgok-ro tunnel at the end of Seosun-ra Road offers a unique perspective, giving a different feeling. Many unique plants are planted on the stairs climbing the wall road, such as Sosu flower bridges, Hieria trees, and small work trees. One downside is that it is still difficult to freely roam between Jongmyo and Changgyeonggung using Yulgok-ro Palace Wall Road due to ticketing system issues. Also, the gate to Changgyeonggung is closed after 18:00. However, just exploring the area can still be a satisfying course. I plan to go again during the day!
