Saga Torokko Station
Kyoto Prefecture, Japan • Travel
A unique way to enjoy the maple leaves and Arashiyama is by taking a historic train from Torokko Arashiyama to Torokko Kameoka Station, a 30-minute journey. Especially, carriage number 5, known as Richi, has side and floor openings, allowing passengers to fully experience the breeze. Booking during the maple leaf season is very competitive, and reservations can be made on the website 30 days before departure. It's important to secure seats in the correct direction; C, D are forwards when going from Torokko Arashiyama to Torokko Kameoka, and A, B are forwards on the return trip. Also, odd-numbered seats only offer views of the Arashiyama scenery for about the first 5 minutes, with the remainder of the journey offering views of rocks and walls, making even-numbered seats more desirable.
