Jōjakkōji Temple
Kyoto Prefecture, Japan • Entertainment
If you take the Torokko train, you should get off at Torokko Arashiyama Station, one station before the one you boarded, when you return. This is because the entrance to Chikurin (the bamboo forest) is right in front of it and it's also the way to Jojakkoji. If you walk through Chikurin, you'll find a fork in the road at the end, and if you go straight to the right, you can get to Jojakkoji. The road to Jojakkoji has the feeling of a quiet, rural path in Japan, stretching straight and long, making it great for taking portraits. Jojakkoji may not be a large temple, but its autumn leaves are very pretty, and it's quieter than the downtown of Arashiyama. If you climb to the highest point you can (not very high), you'll be one of the few places where you can see the cityscape of Kyoto. When you come down, going down the opposite side of the way you came up allows you to see a different landscape. 🚩 Jojakkoji (Upper Religious Light Temple) 📍 3 Sagao Ogurayama Oguracho, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture ⌚ 09:00 ~ 17:00 (Last admission 16:30) 💰 500 yen 🚈 10 minutes on foot from Torokko Arashiyama Station
