Starfield Library
Samseong Station, Seoul • Culture
A space where the softly lit bookshelves and a large starlight tree come together. I found the perfect space for homebodies who want to feel the year-end atmosphere but are wary of the cold outdoors, at COEX connected indoors from Samsung Station. Thanks to the comfortable atmosphere that gently envelops the entire space, this place, the Starfield Library, makes you want to stay longer. Unlike last year's silver tree, this year, a gold tree fitting the name 'Starfield Library' and about 13m high was installed. It matches well with the soft light of the large bookshelf, which can be considered the trademark of the Starfield Library, making the space shine more splendidly and warmly. Designed with the theme of rest, meeting, and communication through books, people were seen reading books, immersed in thought with coffee, and taking pictures with loved ones. The presence of foreigners, seeming to be tourists, indicates that it has become a well-known Seoul year-end destination. Although unplanned, arriving to see a lightning show that unfolds as soon as you arrive felt like receiving a gift. It takes place every night from 6pm to 10pm at 15-minute intervals, using the giant library's bookshelf as a screen for quite a watchable media art show. Among many spots for the year-end, this is the place I would like to stay the longest and revisit.
