When Blue Bottle first landed in Korea, the excitement was palpable. Just when the proliferation of competing brands on every block had become stale and the public's expectations for coffee had risen, their entry, insisting only on specialty coffees and quality, served as a moment to reconfirm interest in coffee in Korea. Starting in Seongsu and aggressively expanding to Samcheong, Yeoksam, and Jeju, Blue Bottle momentarily paused its expansion for some reason. Now, at the end of 2022, they've fully prepared to open a new branch in Myeong-dong like never seen before.

The ninth domestic store, Blue Bottle Myeong-dong, carries a different concept with the nickname 'Blue House.' The most significant difference is the operation in an 'On the go' manner without separate seating indoors or outdoors, intending to match the tempo of Myeong-dong, which is a hub of pedestrian traffic and consumption. Considering each location, Blue Bottle has flexibly adjusted the store's interior and concept. For instance, while Seongsu features an industrial interior with a roastery, Samcheong was designed to allow customers to relax by blocking the parking lot, and the now-closed Samsung store, like the newly opened Myeong-dong branch, welcomed customers focusing on to-go services in busy office areas. This On the go method in Myeong-dong represents not so much a bold challenge as a continuation of their original philosophy.

Essentially a takeout method, customer dwell time in the store is short, but Blue Bottle Myeong-dong has put a great deal of effort into this small store. Inspired by records stating Myeong-dong was a peaceful town during the Joseon Dynasty, elements of Hanok (traditional Korean houses) are integrated into the interior, and a signboard with the cafe's name and address is hung, aptly calling it 'Blue House.' Special menus and merchandise, only available at Blue House, are points worth checking out. Inspired by Myeong-dong Theatre and the streets, 'White Mocha Popped Rice,' Cold Brew Latte with various spices called 'Nolla Spice,' and a unique Hand Scrub using coffee beans are also sold.

Visiting Myeong-dong yesterday after a long time, it has regained its vitality with large crowds forming once again. Blue Bottle Myeong-dong, though small, seems to drop a blue drip into the wave of people with its charming features.
