Sojeon Serim is a literature-specific library located in Cheongdam-dong. Have you heard about the forest of books in Cheongdam-dong? I have been curious about this place for a while and finally visited it. Sojeon Serim is a library that adds a green hue to our dried emotions and a space where various cultural programs are held.
The interior is made up of a cafe and an exhibition on the first floor, and upon buying a ticket and going downstairs, a new world unfolds. The space is divided into three sections: the main hall, a private bookshelf where you can enjoy some alone time, and Yedam where light conversations are allowed. Climbing the stairs feels charmful as if entering an attic full of books on literature, philosophy, art, and magazines.
Beverages ordered at the cafe on the first floor can be brought into the library, but the entry of outside food is prohibited. You are free to come and go within the time included in the admission ticket. You can purchase a semi-annual pass or a day pass on-site, suitable for your needs, and please note that entrance is allowed for adults only.
The music at Sojeon Serim is painted with instrumental genres such as classical, jazz, and ambient, excluding vocals. Given the nature of the library space, it might be better to temporarily set aside the importance of lyrics. Personally, I think it would be better to fill it with classical music only, preferring piano solos over symphonies, which might blend well into the space.
When people seeking knowledge in any field visit a certain space, there are places with invisible walls. As someone who has visited many spaces and is not deeply knowledgeable in various fields, I often feel this. I hope Sojeon Serim becomes a comfortable space without invisible walls for anyone who visits. To become such a space, the representing members of the space also need to make an effort.
