An Jung-geun Memorial Museum
Namsan, Seoul • Culture

As a symbol of architecture, Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall is a space where historical, traditional, contextual, and locational humanistic elements complement the material aspects of architecture such as form, material, and structure. Situated on the slopes of Namsan, the location was historically significant during the Japanese colonial period. It features a structure symbolizing Ahn Jung-geun and the twelve members of their alliance, standing firmly on a site that aimed to eradicate national spirit through the imposition of Emperor ideology. The design cleverly integrates with the landscape, inviting visitors to engage deeply with the memorial's themes through its architecture. The memorial stands confidently, infusing visitors with confidence by day and providing comfort by lighting up the dark trails at night.
