Travel landmark

When traveling, there is a place where the daily itinerary of the trip starts. Especially for foreigners, it is common to rent a hotel or stay and travel from there. However, not all accommodation spaces become the landmark of the trip.

In my case, the landmark of this Tokyo trip was here. It was the Huglen Asakusa store, located a 4-minute walk from my accommodation.

Every morning, I woke up, got ready, and greeted the day at this space, deciding what to give up at the last minute while looking at today's schedule. For me, the Huglen coffee of the day was there.

What made this space particularly appealing to me every morning was its interior design. It wasn't just the location; it was the comfort and cozy feel of the wooden interior that made it special. I could also observe Japanese people enjoying their mornings. While I could have had breakfast with a variety of foreigners in my accommodation, having breakfast in the same space as them in a foreign country made the experience richer.

As I sipped on a delicious croissant and fresh black coffee, I felt a bitter emotion. Especially on mornings when I woke up late, the bitterness was stronger. The list of spaces to give up increased, and I had to choose these spaces here.

After organizing my schedule in this space, when I left, I remember waving goodbye as if I would come back. Of course, I didn't forget to say goodbye to the friendly staff. However, what stood out the most was that this space became the most familiar place to me during my trip to Japan.

Creating my own landmark during a foreign trip is essential.

It marks the beginning and end of travel records. Acting as a mental landmark, it provides me with a reference point in an unfamiliar city, emotionally and physically enriching my journey.

Today's space became that landmark for me.

This is my Tokyo travel landmark, Huglen Asakusa.
