Temple Street Night Market
Yau Tsim Mong District, Kowloon • Entertainment
Temple Street Night Market in Yau Ma Tei is also known as Miogashi Market (廟家市場) in Chinese, meaning 'market by the temple,' named due to the nearby Tin Hau Temple. Tin Hau is the goddess of the sea. Hong Kong, once a fishing village, fishermen would pray for their safe return and bountiful catches to the goddess. The symbol of Temple Street is a large Chinese-style gate. Originally, it started as a market selling men's goods in contrast to the Ladies' Market, which specializes in women's products. Today, both markets have diversified their offerings, featuring souvenirs, clothing, Cheongsams, accessories, toys, and several local food restaurants. The best way to reach it is by MTR, alighting at Jordan Station and walking.
