Finding warmth in a vintage space, in search of Gangneung's retro. Without any plans, I ended up in Gangneung onboard the KTX, where I sought recommendations through this account. Among the overwhelmingly suggested places were mainly tourist sites and viewpoints (such as Ojukheon and Stain Interview..) and the cafe I'm about to introduce, '@ashdangcho_official.' The main reason I thought I 'initially' had to visit was its eye-catching interior and items for someone like me who's a vintage fanatic, and its close proximity to the accommodation I had secured near Chodang Sundubu Village. Excited to visit my top-choice destination, I went to the cafe the evening I arrived in Gangneung, only to find it closed on Thursdays. Nonetheless, I optimistically promised the owner I'd return the next day, taking advantage of the unscripted joy of the trip. The following day, the cafe's ambiance affirmed my determination to visit. The wallpaper, lighting, chairs, and various items scattered around strongly projected retro vibes. Especially a kettle placed atop a stove in the middle caught my fancy! It was a space filled with perfect spots for photography, with not a single place to pass up. Even more so, the Christmas season had adorned it more splendidly than the photos, and the old pop songs playing in the background took me back in time to a late twentieth-century Gangneung year-end. The vintage warmth evokes a naturally cozy image. Faded photos taken with old film cameras, songs playing from a cassette player full of noise and distortion, the longing unrefined things evoke drawing many back to retro. This space is exactly where you can fully experience that retro. The warmth a vintage space provides is the reason I highly recommend this place to travelers heading to Gangneung to see the winter sea.
