The cafe market, where space turns into competitiveness, goes beyond leveling up to create spaces we could never imagine. Even in the most remote areas of the country, if significant effort is put into the space, its power is proven enough for people to seek it out. This place at the edge of Yeongjongdo, which opens next week, presents a space beyond high-end.

Its predecessor was a church. By purchasing the site of Wangsan Church, the first in Yeongjongdo and the third to be established in Korea, its exterior maintains its original form while the interior has been upcycled to fit their concept. The space is divided into four floors, including the basement, each decorated with completely different concepts, inducing long stays on each floor. Under the overall message of 'The Primeval Forest,' various elements such as earth, water, light, darkness, and sky come together to form a forest.
When spaces incorporate these philosophical messages, the intended story often becomes too condensed, making it difficult for consumers to empathize. Even for someone who visits cafes frequently, interpreting someone's review or the cafe's Instagram intro as 'Ah, that's what it was...' is common. However, from the basement's earth concept through the ground floor symbolizing water/forest, and up to the spire symbolizing the sky, one can feel the narrative of 'The Forest' being created, promising a visually satisfying and fun space experience for visitors.

The entertainment options beyond the space's scale are robust, including cafes and bakeries, and a variety of dishes using seafood, given its proximity to the sea. Menus like gilt-head bream steak and clam bake pizza are prepared, likely to cater to many tourists visiting Yeongjongdo, including Eulwangri. A stage is set up in one corner of the second floor for regular live performances, which could be a great way to end a drive if timed right.

Not even halfway through January, and it feels like the best space of the year has already been determined. Seeing companions continually praise and take photos makes it seem quite objective. High-end space, high-end furniture, everything aiming high-end. This place in Yeongjongdo discusses what comes after high-end.
