The Getty Villa
California, United States • Entertainment
The Getty Villa, with its classic atmosphere, is based on the art collected by J. P. Getty of the Getty oil company. After his death, his foundation made these places available for free viewing. The Getty Villa, unlike the contemporary The Getty, which focuses on comprehensive art exhibitions and views of LA, exhibits relics from the Greek and Roman era, mainly sculptures. The architecture, inspired by a 1st-century Italian mansion, exudes a profoundly classic and serene vibe, making it an overwhelming place. Visiting The Getty first might make The Getty Villa feel relatively small, but its private setting atop Santa Monica, and the ambiance the architecture provides is truly inviting, as if being invited to a great mansion. It's a beautiful place to stroll and quietly take many photos, offering a space for healing among the sculptures.
