Gardeners
Paju, Gyeonggi • Cafe
The majestic structure naturally draws people's footsteps in Heyri Village, opening up a wide outdoor space and erasing the clear boundary between commerce and public. It was designed to allow people's footsteps to flow in freely, reminiscent of an underpass waterfront space and garden. This building, having passed through the hands of the same architect as @ledetour_cafe, emphasizes large volume, clean sections, and transparency through the use of glass. Cafe Gardeners sends a message with its garden filled with soft colors and the notion of 'us'.
📍Space Characteristics
An ample space of 240 pyeong indoors and 300 pyeong outdoors secures. The yellow line running across the floor center serves as an aesthetically pleasing and functional guide line towards the entrance. Gardeners has a built structure surrounding an external courtyard, using glass walls to extend the view outward. The interior and exterior circulation on the same floor was architected intentionally to allow viewing of the courtyard and scenery from most points within the space.
📍Color and Structure
The interior space is divided into two color temperatures. There are areas bathed in warm lighting, and spaces dressed in the clear white of daylight. Sitting in front of a large window during my visit, I could see the sky and trees, making it a perfect spot for a good conversation with a good person. Overall, comfortable seating arrangements guide users to leisurely moments.
This is a flexible space where gaze and steps can flow. The value derived from concrete embracing a garden and people would be comfort and generosity.
