Powerhouse Ultimo
New South Wales, Australia • Culture
Originally a power station building that supplied electricity to Sydney's trams and swing bridges, Powerhouse may seem unremarkable from the outside but boasts the largest scale in the Southern Hemisphere internally. Divided into 25 sections, it features a variety of exhibitions on science, information technology, decoration, art, hi-tech, transportation, space science, and culture, where visitors can directly experience the principles of force and motion. Upon passing the ticket office, visitors encounter the transportation exhibition, where a helicopter used for circumnavigation and Australia's first steam locomotive are preserved. Free guided tours are available at 11:30 and 13:30 daily, with Korean guidance materials available upon ticket purchase. Exiting the museum, visitors will find a playground for children and a modern restaurant utilizing container interiors, where even the smallest detail reflects the Powerhouse concept. It's a remarkable transformation of an old factory building.
