Seongdong-gu, Seoul
The word personality is embodied in architecture. It's rare to find such a unique presence that catches the eye as much as this while traveling through various regions. The intense visuality of the building changes the context of an ordinary alley, making it hard to look away. This building is Atelier 8, a space that doubles as a rental natural light studio and cafe. ㅡ 📍A strange presence In the area far from the crowded Seongsu-dong area, there is a building that stands alone unlike the low residential buildings. Its tall stature, unfamiliar facade, and vivid orange color make it seem like the protagonist of the street, relegating other buildings to supporting roles. The repetition of straight cuts and elegant arch patterns creates a sense of geometric structure. The design statement and architectural power are clearly revealed. 📍Space travel The first floor has a narrow window seat and a bar. The stairs leading to the second floor serve as a guide through the space. A huge light hanging from the ceiling takes on the visual weight in the large blank space. Part of the ceiling is opened, and windows are widened to create a natural connection between the floors, embodying the mood of a natural light studio without interrupting the flow of footsteps and gaze. 📍Sensory staging Long tables stretch out in the center, with objects rhythmically arranged along them. The sleek texture and soft curves are impressive. The overall brightness is on the darker side, giving a nuance that organizes the energy of conversation. By diversifying the seat design, it avoids the boredom of observation. Chairs without back support are the result of focusing on the aesthetics of the space rather than physical convenience. Seats by the window are directly lit, creating a bright atmosphere. Pink chairs and curtains, plain beige walls, and plants placed here and there harmonize. Each element creates a stable image without awkward clashes. Atelier 8 is like a small playground for those interested in interior, video, photography, and landscaping. You can draw your own content using the well-staged space as material or capture images with your own perspective. It's also an interesting environment for those interested in decorating spaces. ☕️ Menu During my visit, there were 6 basic coffee menu items. There are 3 signature menus: Peanut Schupfnudel (winter limited), Einspanner Almond Latte, Einspanner Almond Black. Non-coffee items and desserts, especially a variety of teas to satisfy your curiosity. A tea master selects and blends the tea, so choose according to your preference. ㅡ @atelier8_seongsu @ideeaa ㅡ Location: 13-1, Wangsimni-ro 16-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul Hours: 10:00 - 19:00 (Closed on Sundays) / Saturday from 11:00 Contact: 010-8346-6650 Pets allowed
