Farmoon
Kyoto Prefecture, Japan • Cafe
Discover Kyoto's Most Secretive Restaurant: Came across Farmoon on an Instagram post showcasing beautiful dessert images. More than a cafe or restaurant, it feels like a culinary lab of Chef Masayo, who has honed her skills in Australia and the USA. Unique dishes with a Japanese touch by Chef Masayo were encountered. The menu is a bit challenging. Though it was hard to understand some of the meal options, there were two dessert menus. The menu I had seen in images had ended. The current menu includes a black carrot cake using beet and carrot and another dessert featuring tea ice cream on mooncake. Ordered the carrot cake, thinking it would pair well with tea. Note: The menu will be uploaded as an image for reference. The carrot cake was unlike any I had encountered. The visual of the dark carrot cake with red beet sauce was beautiful, and especially the alluring dishes and utensils. An unencountered food and experience. The sweet carrot cake matched perfectly with the complex spices and the refreshing beet sauce. The quiet and well-organized space and creative menus gave me a hunch I would visit every time I'm in Kyoto. I thought I could have a richer dining experience by sharing stories with the staff if I improve my Japanese more. Contemplating... but here goes, my top pick for this Kyoto trip!! Dessert drink set 1500, dessert 1200, tea 700. Friday to Sunday 11:00 - 17:00. Kyoto, Sakyo Ward, Kitashirakawa Higashikubotacho, 9.
