Tokyo, the Mega City

A population of over 10 million is called a mega city, and there are 33 mega cities worldwide. According to a report titled [World Urbanization Prospects] by the UN, this was announced in 2018. For reference, cities with populations between 5-10 million are considered large cities, 1-5 million are medium-sized cities, and cities with populations between 0.3-0.5 million are referred to as urban areas.

There are only a few mega cities that have a significant impact on the global economy. Cities like 'New York, Paris, London, Tokyo, Beijing, Seoul, Los Angeles, and Shanghai' are among them. Among the 33 mega cities, 27 are still in developing countries [China is still considered a developing country], and the aforementioned 8 cities hold a prominent position.

Therefore, it can be said that these 8 cities have a very diverse infrastructure for travelers. They are places where significant capital and culture have flourished, and they offer various urban infrastructures necessary for residents and tourists to enjoy the city.

Tokyo is one of these cities, with an area three times larger and a population twice as large as Seoul. It is a place filled with diverse and giant cultural and commercial infrastructures. Tokyo has many beautiful and high-quality buildings that have long shaken the modern architecture industry, and the city is very clean compared to other mega cities. While the safety is not as good as Seoul, it is still relatively good.

Public transportation in Tokyo is very well-established, making it a good place to experience a variety of spaces in a short amount of time. Some famous areas include 'Shibuya (Omotesando, Ebisu, Yoyogi)', 'Shinjuku (Kabukicho, Shinjuku)', and 'Ginza (Ginza, Nihombashi area)'.

The cost of living in Tokyo is relatively cheaper compared to Korea. The reason for this is partly due to the yen and the fact that prices did not rise for 30 years before seeing an increase in recent years.

The reason for visiting Tokyo is definitely to enjoy culture and arts. They may have their flaws as travelers, but it is inevitable to be critical in your mind. However, with the phrase 'Everyone has something to learn from', take comfort and experience this city to have a rich and happy experience.

This is a general overview of Tokyo, and below are some beautiful architectural landmarks you must see in Tokyo.
