On a Christmas when an enormous amount of snow had fallen, Gangneung, a place not known for heavy snowfalls, delighted us with a white Christmas. Oblivious to the cold, I enjoyed the snow in the courtyard of the guesthouse. The rooms were immaculate, the owner extremely friendly, and both the welcome hall and the shared kitchen were well-maintained. Most impressively, guests could leave their luggage at any time without worry, even after checking out. For a traveler on foot, this is a tremendous benefit. Whether traveling alone or with others, it seems there's no better place to stay comfortably at a reasonable cost. I'd like to use it again when I visit Gangneung alone.
