Coffee is good with bread, but have you considered trying it with a traditional Korean dessert called 'tteok'? At Jahar space, minimalistic yet elegant, the owner presents nine types of rice cakes made by his mother, along with coffee roasted by himself. Traditional flavors such as black sesame, mugwort, and black beans, as well as trendy ones like fig and 'ang-butter' (red bean butter), are available. The unique experience of cutting the rice cake with a thread before eating adds another layer of enjoyment. Besides, how about enjoying a Korean dessert, tteok, with coffee? The basics: Located in Jongno-gu, Seoul, near Gyeongbokgung Station exit 7. Open Tue-Sun 11:00-18:00, with last coffee order at 17:00. Prices: Americano at 4.0, rice cakes range from 2.5 to 3.0. Taste review: The coffee, with its balanced weight and refreshing acidity, paired perfectly with the rice cakes. The 'Strawberry Rice Cake' had a great combination of chewiness and the fresh taste of strawberries, not too sweet red beans, where the taste of strawberries was more prominent. The 'Yaksik' (a sweet rice dish with nuts and honey) had a light traditional scent, making it pleasantly savory and easy to enjoy.
