SUSHI MIRO
Suseong-gu, Daegu • Restaurant
Located in Daegu, this space operates as a sushi omakase under Chef Jo's direction. If you face the space directly, it's hard to guess what program might reside within. This aspect was particularly charming as Sushimiro is designed with a maze concept in mind.
When confronted with the space, the intricate blend of curves and designs immediately lend credibility to the concept. The fun of discovering hidden spaces within the maze-like environment through curves and indirect lighting was heightened by a slight deviation from the default values of horizontality and verticality, offering a sense of freedom.
Even slight adjustments to the camera's height and angle revealed entirely different perspectives. Despite not having a vast area, this resulted in a plethora of photographs being taken.
It was a significant effort, yet one could become so absorbed as to lose all awareness of it.
I hope to see more of these bold spaces attempted, of course, based on the talents of designers but also with a more discerning eye from the public.
The public should know how to critique space and remember those feelings, as this would elevate the standards of designers overall, leading to improved spaces and societies.
