1유로 프로젝트 코끼리 빌라
Seongdong-gu, Seoul • Restaurant
The 1 Euro Project is one method of urban regeneration spearheaded by government agencies, aimed at preserving medieval-style homes in Italy and combating urban sprawl dominated by the real estate market. The project also took place in the rural village of Maenza, Italy, where buyers could purchase an old space for 1 euro with the promise of completing renovations within 3 years and a no-resale agreement for 5 years. This initiative has attracted young challengers to expand new businesses or to become a community, revitalizing weakened cities. Furthermore, the project serves as an attractive slogan that various foreigners can become residents of this urban organization. However, this space was not led by the government but by a private initiative that transformed an old brick building next to the Elephant Mansion complex in Seongsu-dong, Songjeong-dong, into a 1 Euro Project. The space has also become a place to inject vitality into this quiet neighborhood, featuring various brands that are currently hot topics. Rather than being a fancy and glamorous space, it is a warm space where silent spaces meet new owners, forming a community and attracting people's steps. The real value of this project is not now but in how it progresses in the future. Its journey ahead is anticipated.
