Maha Hannam
Yongsan-gu, Seoul • Cafe
Architect's study with a view of the substation and Hangang, Dongbinggo Cafe 'Maha Hannam' is an architectural office that doubles as a cafe and whiskey bar. Located on the fourth floor of a former bathhouse guest bath building in the old downtown hills near Yongsan Park, Maha signifies 'greatness' and 'infinity'. This space, opened by one of three architects at the new Yongsan 3F lobby, features cozy interior decor with wood and stone, sunbeds and spiral staircases, stylish objects and art pieces and furniture, and a healing vista of an open Hangang view and unique substation scenery. Like the developed Hangang area's scenery mixed with the cozy neighborhood feeling, the cafe harmonizes modern beauty with remnants of the old scattered around. Guests can enjoy coffee with a Moka pot and premium desserts such as bisteca tiramisu, salt bread, and croissants. The whiskey bar showcases whiskeys like Balvenie, Kavalan, and Talisker, fitting for the dense evening ambiance. The grand sanctuary, Maha, starts on March 3, offering courtesy and gentle hospitality as if treating VIP guests.
